Philosophies

Okay, let's cover the basics...

Life- "Live life to its fullest." I waste entirely too much time as it is, so I've decided to try to stay busy as often as possible. Of course, you have to draw the line somewhere. You can't stay busy all the time; there are occasions when you just need to slow down and enjoy being alive. Some people think that life is way too complicated and difficult, and it is- it's designed that way to teach us something. Otherwise, where would the adventure be? There are going to be good times and bad times (I've had my share of both), but it gives you so many different memories and sculpts you to be who you are now. Basically, life's too precious to be just sitting around watching it whiz by- get out there and enjoy it.

Love- Oh, boy. If there ever was a simple concept that people made entirely too complicated, it would most certainly have to be love. It can bring someone the greatest joy one has ever known; but love's a double-edged sword. It can harbor some of the most painful memories that one is forced to keep hidden, as well. I think just about everyone experiences some form of love, whether it's romantic or camroderie. I think it's important to love- it keeps you joyful and makes you forget about your worries when it feels life has become too overbearing. It makes you blush when your mom kisses your cheek or spreads a goofy grin on your face when you're daydreaming of that "special someone." Love hurts, though; it takes courage to give your heart to someone, especially if you've ever had it shattered before. So wouldn't it be easier to just not love at all? Sure, it'd be easier, but you'll always spend your life wondering what would've happened if you'd gone out-on-a-limb and taken that risk. You might have thrown away something really special. I see people do it all the time (I should know- I used to be one of them), who are wary of giving themselves completely to just one person because they're so worried they're going to make a mistake. Well, mistakes are there for a reason. They're there to teach us something, in hopes that we'll be more careful in the future and appreciate the times when things go right even more. I do think, though, that if you're going to love someone, love them completely; it's not "true" if you don't take in their faults and outstanding qualities. Nobody's perfect, including yourself- remember that. However, I'm a firm believer of using good judgment and common sense, and I'll admit, love blinds you sometimes from seeing what is really there. Trust your instincts- your intuition is one of your most valuable and reliable assets. Bottom line is "love like you've never been hurt before." Someone new doesn't deserve to pay the price for something that happened in your past. Give 'em a chance. Sometimes the person you end up loving dearly is the most unlikely pairing in the back of your mind when you first met them. Now, do I believe that there is someone out there for everyone? Indeed I do. What about soul-mates? Well, I don't think there is one special person that is destined for us. I think that person you end up spending your life with is as special as you want them to be, and I also think there are many people out there who you are compatible with. There are just some more so than others. I'm a hopeless romantic at heart (sheepishly admits it), and that's just some of my views on love. I'll probably expand upon this 'lil section later on.

Greed- Everyone's selfish, myself included. I think that you have to be, at least a little bit, in order to get anywhere in the world. It's a pessimistic truth, but it's still a reality. If you're constantly giving of yourself (which, all good Christians should do), than you're inevitably gonna come across people who are going to walk all over you. I guess I'm saying (without trying to be a hypocrite), you've gotta know where to draw the line between being a pushover and being reasonably greedy. Make sense? Not really... =P

Death- A natural part of life. I hate funerals, or generally anything that's depressing. I believe there's life after death because I'm a born again Christian, so I'm not really worried about where I'm going when I've passed away. Everyone has their own views on death, though. I can't say that I'm not afraid of it because I've never been close to it before. I don't think I would be, but as far as other people go, it's one of the hardest things in the world to lose someone you love. Death is only rivaled by heart-break for the greatest pain ever known to man, emotionally anyway. This is too dark, so I'm gonna move on to a "happier" subject:

Faith- "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." It's really hard to keep on believing that there's a better tomorrow sometimes when the world's weighing on your shoulders. Sometimes it feels as if it's one thing right after another, and I often find myself wondering if I'm being "tested." Being someone who worries way too much about what another day will bring, I have to say that if you just let everything go and not worry about it so much then it'll eventually work itself out. You've gotta hope for the best. Otherwise, you'll make yourself miserable, I would think.

Pride- Everyone has it, and it's hard to swallow sometimes. Sometimes people let their personal pride get in the way of their own self-happiness. Humility's a virtue, and I think that people who are too proud will eventually have someone/something choke it right out of 'em. "What goes around, comes around" or so I've always been told. Not saying I believe in karma or anything; that's just the way it's always seemed to me.

Fate- Being rooted in Christianity, I believe that God has a plan for all of us. I'm not necessarily saying that our destinies are predetermined- we still have to make our own choices, although I think when we start staying from the path, God finds ways to put us back on track. It would be a helpless feeling if we had no control whatsoever over our future. Like, I also thinks that God gives us talents and abilities for certain reasons. I liked to draw and music, but I chose to stick with music. Basically, I think that if you cherish the gifts God has given you, then you'll never fall short of a blessed life.

"The ingredients to a happy life are: love and passion (yes, there is a difference), humilty, respect (for yourself and others), loyalty, forgiveness, hope, perseverance, and courage."

Rantings

Terror in London: Terrorism in general... I figured it was as good a place to start as any. While it's very tragic what happened there, I don't think the world is ever going to be completely free of terrorism. With all the other sick crap that goes on here, Earth is never going to be that perfect. Sure, there was no excuse for it, but people never have one when doing completely idiotic things. I still can't understand what type of "pleasure" those people get out of blowing things up (mostly other human beings), but frankly, I don't think they're ever going to stop. I don't believe there is a single place in the world that is all that safe against another such attack. If they have the will power to do something like that again, then there's nothing stopping them. It's a pretty large terrorist network that knows how to cover their tracks. Guess I'll stop here... keep those people in your prayers.

Drama: If you're a woman, it's everywhere!!!!!!!!! Seems like when you're done mopping up the mess from the last speal, there's a new load of BS to clean up. Some of the things people (particularly women, and even more so, teenage girls), aruge over are so trivial... it just doesn't seem worth it. Before you know it, you've lost your best friend over something completely dumb. This is where I'd like to bring everyone's attention to the fact that men aren't exactly like us (thank God), or I think there'd be too much drama for the world to handle, not that there isn't enough as it is. Men (from my point of view), really don't care about fighting all that much, except if it was for a worthy/noble cause, and who wouldn't duke it out for something like that. But as far as total nonsense goes- no way. It's human nature to be dramatic (again, if you're a woman, you're kinda hard-wired that way), but the next time you get into a fight, stop and think about a) what is the fight really about; b) do you actually believe this is worth your time; and c) is it worth losing someone you care about?

Mono: It sucks.
